1888 shipwreck found [PHOTO\VIDEO] in S.F. bay, Scientists discovered the shipwreck of the 1888 passenger steamer City of Chester, which sank near the Golden Gate Bridge after colliding with the steamer Oceanic, The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s James Delgado said on Wednesday.
On the day the Chester sank, killing 16 people including
two children and three crew members, a dense fog was filling the bay.
The Chester was toting passengers from San Francisco to Eureka when it
